Milan’s Divock Origi, currently on loan in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest, is reportedly nearing an early departure from the City Ground after a disastrous spell in 2023-24, as MLS clubs begin to register an interest.

Origi joined Forest on loan from Milan towards the end of the summer transfer window. The Rossoneri did not receive a loan fee, as Forest had offered to cover Origi’s wages in full for the duration of his stay.

However, the former Belgium international has registered just 177 minutes of action split across nine appearances so far this term and shows no indication of claiming a place in Nuno Espirito Santo’s starting line-up any time soon.

Forest are now actively seeking to terminate Origi’s loan deal with Milan according to reports from Calciomercato.com.

Forest did have an option to make Origi’s move permanent for a fee of around €4.5m, but that is no longer a realistic possibility.

Thursday morning’s report does suggest that Origi has interest from a series of MLS clubs, including Giorgio Chiellini’s LAFC, as well as FC Dallas and FC Cincinnati.

Milan’s priority would reportedly be to find a club willing to take Origi on loan with the intention of signing him permanently.
